Abstract — A proof-of-concept of a novel four-mode interferometer is presented, that contains a single sensing-waveguide and operates bimodal per polarization. The evaluation of two independent interference patterns offers the potential for an unambiguous detection in an extended refractive index range or for simultaneous temperature sensing.
